editing blog

Right after we finished taking our footage from our first day of filming we went over our footage and chose our best clips and put them in a different folder. Then before anything else i first shared all of our footage to one of group members. She’s in charge of editing and everything to do with editing the music video. We gave her some ideas of what we had in mind to do and what we wanted for the music video. She then explained a little bit what she was going to do and she began editing, i helped her a little and watched over and gave some pointers to what she was doing and she gave us some more ideas that would improve our music video. We went to youtube and transferred the song  to .mp4 using a music downloading website. After it downloaded we looked up glitch background for the intro of the music video. Once we found the one we liked, we started looking for glitch sounds, which I already had some sounds in my files. We then used Final Cut Pro X to make the intro, we added the glitch GIF and sound effect we then added the song title and the artist name. We exported it and opened After Effects to add the intro. We made a new composition, and a black background for we could add our videos. Since the song is retro I thought it’d be smart to add vhs and grain to our clips. Once we made sure the intro came out well we added the song as well as all the clips we filmed. We browsed for effects and presets that match the vibe of the song, and finally found the one that we all liked. At first we tried adding transitions to the clips but it didn’t look as well as we thought it'd look but we ended up just leaving it plain. We added the lyrics at the bottom so it’d look a little more complex and artistic. I played around with a plug-in called Magic Bullet Looks and made a coloring that we all liked on the video clips, as well as adding sapphire “tint”. We then added Twixtor/Time remapping to our clips to make them slower and longer. We then added a glowing effect to match each beat of the song and edited the graphs.

Filming blog 2

Over the thanksgiving break we started to film our music video. We started filming on saturday, we filmed for 3-5 hours. We took short 5 second clips of some parts and then we went to kats house and we filmed a little bit there and then we started going other places. We started skating around her house for a while and then we went and found a shopping cart that was laying around so we went on it and got some clips on that just pushing it down the street. After that we went behind mcdonalds to skate around and get some pictures and some clips of us just having fun and skating around. We had to take our time with that because we did not want anyone to end up injured or anything like that so we took our time and filmed and took pictures very slowly. After that we went ahead and just took some more pictures on this wall that was around mcdonald’s. We later went inside mcdonald’s and took some clips of us eating, talking, just having fun. Laughing and joking around. We ordered some fries and ice cream for us to share and eat and we recorded that footage of us. After that we ended up going back to the other street to film some more clips of us skating around and just sitting there having fun and talking about things. We then looked over all of our footage such as the pictures and videos. We looked for any mistakes, if they were too long, or if they were too short, or like we did not like the footage so we would go back and retake some and do things we thought would make it look better. We also by the end of the day started going over what we were missing if we needed anything else and we came to the conclusion that we would need an extra day for filming so we made plans to finish our music video next saturday and finish getting all of our footage and get it over with and start editing on that same day. We planned on now going to the mall or park or maybe the beach so we have some more fun footage to put in our “girls just want to have fun” music video. We also started watching some music videos to get some ideas about some things such as if we needed some props or if we never more footage, anything that would make it pop out or stand out very well. We will film on saturday of next weekend and we start editing immediately after we finish getting all of our footage so we actually have enough time to do everything slowly and not rush and mess any of our footage up or lose any of the  important stuff that could really impact our music video.

Filming blog

We still haven’t filmed our music video. We will film over thanksgiving break and we will be using my phone to shoot the music video. We will film someday over thanksgiving break and we will for now just talk over all the details such as what we are doing, how we will edit, our backup plans if the weather isn’t good and other things. We planned on filming outside such as the park, the beach, ice cream shops, etc. In case it rains or the weather isn’t so nice we will have to have a back up plan on what we will do if that happens. We have decided that if it does rain we will have a sleepover and film at someone’s house. We will make the music video look like a sleepover type thing. On our editing we have decided on how we want it to look. We will have many takes on one clip pick our best one and move on the next part. After that we will look over our clips and pick our best one of each one we took. We will pick our best ones and then move on to editing. For our editing part we will have pictures and we will add them into the music video. We will also add lyrics at the bottom of the screen so people know the actual music lyrics to the song and then we will have some cute design effects added into it and at the end hope for it to look good and as good as possible. After that we will watch the music video a couple times to look over any details and things we have messed up on such as tiny details on grammar, cut off parts, anything that could mess up the music video we will look over to make sure it is good to turn in. We will have extras for background purposes such as people playing around in the park, or other people ordering ice cream, and people at the park riding their bikes, skating around, kids running anything like that. For our sleepover we will some other girls over to make it look more like a music video and all girls having fun just like the song tittle and the meaning of the song “girls just want to have fun”. We have two people editing our music video and two people directing it. We will have like ten extra girls in the music video and we will most likely switch jobs so we will all have a chance to be in the music video. We will also meet up another day so we can all look over the editing like i said and we will be able to decide weather or not we are missing something and if we are then we will watch it all together and turn it in.

Storyboard

For the camera shot and angles we will use mostly wide shots. We want to get a lot of landscapes. We will also use two people shots and long shots. Tracking shots will also be used because we can have the camera following us. I think we will also be using close-ups because we might be recording ourselves to make the viewer feel like a friend.  Our costumes are just going to be t shirts and shorts. But the weather could be colder so maybe jeans and shirts. And if it rains then well just wear leggings and have umbrellas.

Planning

Our costumes are going to be normal going out clothes. Were going for a simple girls night theme, so we will keep our outfits very simple such as jeans, simple shirts, jackets, hoodies. For our props we will be using skateboards, bicycles, skates, cameras, face masks, pillows, and pajamas.. We will be using these for our footage. We will be going to the beach, park, Kats house and we will be using these props at these locations. Since our costumes is just normal teenager clothes we will be fine with simple clothes. For our makeup we will also keep it simple, some if they want they can choose to wear makeup or if they do not want they do not have to. At the end its a "girls just want to have fun" music video. All we will be doing is having fun
For our location we decided to have more than one. We decided to film at around three or four locations. Our locations are most likely going to be Kats house, the skate park, and we might film at the ice cream shops and maybe some other extra places. We are going to most likely to have a sleepover. We are going to ask for permission to film ata all the places. We will have a first aid kit on hand and our waterbottles.
For our schedule, everyone is coming to my house on a Saturday. We will film some scenes in my house. Then we will go to the "skate park", it is actually just the back of a mechanic shop. After we will go to McDonalds. We will be also go to an icecream place and overall spend the most time at my house.

Intro to new project

We just got done with our commercial project. The storyboard helped a lot, it gave us a plan and helped us film and structure our blogs. The hardest thing was editing because we had to edit and cut and add voice overs. The voice over was pretty hard too because we had to record it more than ten times. After we actually recorded a good one without messing up then we had to go and split them up and place them over the correct footage. After this last project i now know what we can curve around and not do it again on the next project. at first i didn't really know what was going on but then i caught up with the rest of the class.
Our song is girls just want to have fun by Cindy Lauper because our group is full of girls so we thought that would be a great. So our plan is to just film us all having fun. Going out to the beach, park, mcdonalds. Our backup song material girl by madonna and marvins room by drake. We'll keep the same theme for all of them.
  1. Camera Angles- For our camera angles we age going to use zoom, slow motion, pan, eye level, close up, two shots, three shots, and medium close up. Those will all come together and make it all come together.
  2. Lighting- Well  mostly be using dark with minimum light. Still enough light for us to see and for it to be caught on camera but as little light as possible.
  3. Acting-
  4. Makeup- For makeup were going
  5. Props-
  6. Setting- For our setting we will be going to as many places as we can and are able to such as the beach, movies, mcdonalds, parks, and other places. They all make up our theme for the song.

Final Blog

We went to class and got started on choosing our best footages to start editing. We had two to three shots for each script we had made, so we picked one of each. We watched every single one and went over which one had more details and which one was better. I then downloaded iMovie so we could start editing. I went ahead and watched all of our footage again to see if i had to crop anything out or cut any scenes, or split any footage in half. I also went over our angles, how we did everything. After watching our shots a couple times i went ahead and dumped every single footage on iMovie. We just watched how it looked all together and how long it was to see if we had to crop anything out, or cut anything short. I had to split a couple shots, i also had to cut some short because we had like one minute long commercial. So i went ahead and cut it shorter and watched it over to see if i had cut anything important out.
After we finished cutting everything and making sure i hadn’t missed anything or took anything important out by accident, we went ahead and started talking about our script for our voice over. Since our commercial is a infomercial we decided to talk a little about our shots and what they’re feeling but we then decided we needed some more ideas so we all went and did some research on infomercials. We all watched different videos and analyzed how they were made, the angles, how they voiced it over. After watching and doing some research we went ahead and started writing down what we were going to say for our voice over. While the other people in my group did that i went and started taking out the sound from every clip, and only keeping some sounds that would be good use as sound affects such as the bell ringing. I cut out that sound of the bell ringing and placed it on another shot that we took. It would make more sense.
After i cut out the sounds and added sound affects we decided we needed some transitions and to cut it shorter since it was still over 30 seconds long. It was around 59 seconds long and we then decided that some scenes could’ve been split and then transitioned back to where i had cut it off. After doing all of that we went and did some more research on dunkin commercials just to make sure. We then decided to add the dunkin logo as the brands logo. Which made it look more alike to a commercial. We then talked more about what our script was going to say and who would do the voice over. We decided on one of our group members to do it and then we continued with what she was going to say. We also decided to add the actual “America runs on dunkin” at the end of our commercial. After we were all set we just watched it over to make sure we had everything done correctly and went ahead and finished our script.

editing blog

Today we filmed our last shot. We went to the tracks and filmed our “America Runs on Dunkin” shot. We had low angles, high angles, and eye level angles. We took 5-6 shots of us running so we could pick the best ones. We then looked over our shots and saved our best one in another album. So then we moved towards the bus loop to film our last scene. The actors leaving school. So we took like 5-6 takes of that too. We then looked over our stuff on that too and we picked our best one and also put it on the other album. we then heading back to class after looking over our footage and We then headed back to class We then got water because we were thirsty. We then went over anything we had to redo or edit and how we’re going to edit and we then we talked about how many times we messed up and stuff. Because some people would stop running or how people would keep laughing and messing it up every time.
We then went to edit but we couldn’t do that because our school is kind of broke and the computers weren’t working at all so we had to talk about how we were going to edit and how we are going to put everything together and stuff. We then jus started looking over each shot we took and we jus talked about mistakes for future reference. We are going to  add affects

Filming Blog

Today we started filming our commercial. We went to class and filled out all the paper work needed to checkout our filming equipment so we could start filming. We then started heading to our first filming location which was at the senior patio. We had the three actors sit at the table and be sad until the other three actors came and sat down with the coffee and food. We set up the camera and all the equipment, then we got all of our commercial props and set it up and we got our actors ready. We then started filming our first shot. We messed up a couple times so we filmed three shots of the same shot. We usually got like two good shots out of the three shots that were taken. We took about twenty minutes in the senior patio. We then looked over some of our footage to check if we needed to do redo any takes.   Our second shot was under the media center, by the vending machines. We got our props and had the actors walk towards the middle as if they were all meeting up after class.
We took three to four shots of that in case any issues. We then moved over to the media center stairs to get a shot of the actors coming out of class and walking down the stairs as if to go to their next class. We had them come from the sides and walk down the stairs and each go different directions. We had some sound affects and some extra people in the background. The bell rang which was a great sound affect, and we have people walking to their next class in the back. We then decided to do a couple more shots and look over any footage we took to check for any mistakes. We then looked at them and if there were any mistakes we went and retook some shots. We then started pulling apart all of our equipment. Such as take the camera from the tripod, putting the tripod away and putting the camera in the camera case. We then headed back to class and we started turning our equipment back to our teachers.
After turning everything and signing back all the papers we went to the computers and went to dump our footage. We had filmed on my phone and on the camera in case any issues with the footage going missing or us not being able to work something. We went ahead and dumped our footage and got started on our steps. I went ahead and sent everyone any footage that was taken on my phone so they could watch and pick which shot was best. We then went over the plan for Mondays  filming session with all the actors. We went over where we would film at, what to wear, what to bring, what props we were going to use, so they would know what to do on Monday once we get all of our equipment and sign all the check in papers. We also went over who’s is taking a lead on which part, who will be the main, and who will be the extras. We also went over that we needed more props from the company we are doing the commercial on.

Storyboard

On our storyboard we have our angles, shots, and locations. We mostly have over the shoulder, eye level and high angles. We’re going to use eye level for when people are interacting with each other. We’ll use high angles when shooting any group encounters or when people are in a big group coming from somewhere. We’ll also be using over the shoulder for when people are talking to eachother, in a conversation.
Today in class we made our storyboards and decided what we would use. We got actors and discussed hiw filming would be so thar they had an idea. While wprking on our storyboard we took notes of which types of movements and angles we wpuld use. We decided to use most of the shots that we had learned in the beginning. We are going to edit using jump cuts. We are using mostly two and three shots.
Before our group did the storyboard we wanted to have people dress as an "emotion" to portray how the viewer would feel with out Dunkin (for example if they are mad they wear red.) We decided to take it out because we want to other things. If we want to do that, it would not show because at some parts of the video it is black and white. Our commercial is still going to show how you feel before and after having coffee or any other product. We are going to have the people in our video express how they feel with their body language and words

Editing Lesson Blog

In today’s lesson i learned how to use the equipment, how to dump, how to import, and how to export. Learning all of this is very important for this commercial and for my future learning. One of the most important ones was learning how to deal with the equipment. What we had to do with them, how to be careful, taking care of it, and how return everything back. Most important the Do’s and Donts of using the equipment. Every time we checkout an item we need to present that we have checked it out. When checking out we must fill out the checkout form and we must fill in the check in form, the time and day we returned the items. All equipment must be turned in by the next day after usage of equipment. After learning how to use the equipment, how to set up, and how to work everything we can start our footage taking.
Once done filming and shooting several clips my group now have to log into a computer to dump all the footage we took. We have to use pinnacle studios and we must only use one log in for the rest of our project. After that we have to create a folder and name it. We now have to insert our SD card into computer and open desktop to click on the “DCIM” folder which all footage should be there, if not we click on private, go on the “AVCHD” folder and all footage should be there. Then highlight everything and drop it to the main folder on your desktop. Into importing, this is where we start moving our footage and editing, cutting, anything we need to do to make it as professional as a commercial. Now building our track, we click on Av track 2, the main one, and drag all the raw footage into that Av track. We wait for it to load, until it’s completely loaded, then we continue. Then we start our affects, voice over, anything we need to edit.
In order to save all the date, to not lose any footage or editing we have made, always click ok after any change is made. Now into adding our tittle. We click on “T”, put the tittle and edit it into the clip we need it on. We would make a slide, write our tittle, and drop it above the clip we want it on. Then we go into our motions and anything we want to make our tittle to blend in with our clip. If anything freezes or goes wrong, we reload the program, and continue. We may lose the last pieces of editing we did but we just continue. Save to files, name the file, and put it in our main folder. Then save it to the desktop. Now into exporting our saved file. We click export, next to import, we then save it and wait. We don’t do anything so we don’t lose any of our footage. We then click “MP4” and start export. Then we save and watch our file, check for any mistakes or issues, if any issues go back and fix, if no issues then we are all set.

Planning

We decided to create a very detailed schedule because we want to have enough time for all locations. We are filming in four different locations. Which are subject to change if the weather permits. We decided to come and film at lunch too. So from 11:35-11:50 we will be on the senior patio to film our "morning" shot. After that we gave ourselves five minutes to get to the track to film our "day" shot from 11:55-12:15. Then from 12:20-12:40 we will be under the media center. Out last and final scene is us at the bus loop from 12:45-12:55 so we can film our shot of us running with a ton of other people. We thought that doing a shot based off a school day woukd be pretty cool so we picked spots around the school that can be used when filming and would represnt different points in a school day.

Our group decided it is best is we print out pictures of the logo Dunkin’ donuts because “America Runs on Dunkin.” Throughout the whole comercial the actors will be walking and running on “Dunkin.” We will also have people with cups of coffee and food from the company. They will be waking around as background people or close up for product placement. For the costumes we decided to have people dress in different solid colors. The reason why is because the concept of the commercial is how it feels like to not have your coffee that day. The video will display the variety moods someone can be without having their coffee.

In case anything goes wrong with the weather we have our backup plan, which is if it rains and we can’t go on the track we would go and film under the media center by the vending machines. We would film in the track people running on the Dunkin boxes but if it’s raining we will have a group of people walking with Dunkin cups. Our other backup plan is the senior patio, we would have a group of kids meeting up to eat their breakfast which would be the donuts and the coffee. If it rains too we would film by the auditorium stairs. Have the group of kids hang out on the stairs with their Dunkin coffee and donuts. We’d also film in the bus loop as if kids were on their way home, our other option would be to film at the point of entry. If things go according to plan we will continue with our track, senior patio, and bus loop films.

Research

For our commercial we decided to do dunkin donuts because we all enjoy it. We started off by searching up dunkin donuts commercials on YouTube. But we soon realised we didnt knkw what conventions meant so we had to search it up. Most of the commercials were either cute or funny.  Since my group decided to do dunkin donuts we strictly watched dunkin commercials. We all brainstormed what we wanted to do and then started typing. We asksed our friend to borrow her laptop so we could watch videos. We decided to stray a little far away from the idea of a conventional dunkin commercial by featuring real people.

The videos that our grouped watch showed that in the commercials it usually demonstrates people being in a better mood once they have coffee. It also shows people enjoying their drink or food that they have. The commercials have music that is very tranquil. It also have some special effects like pop art and exaggerated scenes like a man flying a plane. During the video, it is colorful most of the time. The commercials have people that talk about why they like Dunkin and that they would keep buying that product. At the end of all the commercials they promote the deals that they have which would attract people to buy it. These tactics persuade people to invest in their company.

Our idea is that since Dunkins motto is "America runs on dunkin" we're going to have people running while eating donuts. Were not going to do a conventional dunking donuts commercial. most dunking commercials only feature the food or drink being advertised. whereas, ours will have real people doing things because we thought the idea was cool. were going to find as many people as we can to run. were gonna ask our friends to help and their friends. were also gonna work at kats house on wednesday to brainstorm more. Were also going to buy donuts and iced coffee to put in our commercial. Well have people running while eating as an example of the motto "America runs on dunkin".

Introduction

Hi my name is Luisa, i am a freshman at Fort lauderdale high school. I was born in Brazil and move to New Zealand when i was 2 years old. I lived in New Zealand for about 5 years. It was an amazing experience even though i was at a younger age it was still a great 5 years. At the end of those 5 years, in 2011, a big earthquake hit my city and destroyed many peoples homes. Therefore we had to move and head on back to our home country Brazil. We moved back to Brazil and stayed there for about 3 years, but that’s when my parents decided to explore a little more.. Leading us to where we’re at right now, the United States. And now an ongoing 5 years here in florida.
In conclusion to my whole life story, in my 15 years of life i’ve explored a couple places here and there and it’s safe to say that many more will be explored.
