editing blog

Today we filmed our last shot. We went to the tracks and filmed our “America Runs on Dunkin” shot. We had low angles, high angles, and eye level angles. We took 5-6 shots of us running so we could pick the best ones. We then looked over our shots and saved our best one in another album. So then we moved towards the bus loop to film our last scene. The actors leaving school. So we took like 5-6 takes of that too. We then looked over our stuff on that too and we picked our best one and also put it on the other album. we then heading back to class after looking over our footage and We then headed back to class We then got water because we were thirsty. We then went over anything we had to redo or edit and how we’re going to edit and we then we talked about how many times we messed up and stuff. Because some people would stop running or how people would keep laughing and messing it up every time.
We then went to edit but we couldn’t do that because our school is kind of broke and the computers weren’t working at all so we had to talk about how we were going to edit and how we are going to put everything together and stuff. We then jus started looking over each shot we took and we jus talked about mistakes for future reference. We are going to  add affects

Filming Blog

Today we started filming our commercial. We went to class and filled out all the paper work needed to checkout our filming equipment so we could start filming. We then started heading to our first filming location which was at the senior patio. We had the three actors sit at the table and be sad until the other three actors came and sat down with the coffee and food. We set up the camera and all the equipment, then we got all of our commercial props and set it up and we got our actors ready. We then started filming our first shot. We messed up a couple times so we filmed three shots of the same shot. We usually got like two good shots out of the three shots that were taken. We took about twenty minutes in the senior patio. We then looked over some of our footage to check if we needed to do redo any takes.   Our second shot was under the media center, by the vending machines. We got our props and had the actors walk towards the middle as if they were all meeting up after class.
We took three to four shots of that in case any issues. We then moved over to the media center stairs to get a shot of the actors coming out of class and walking down the stairs as if to go to their next class. We had them come from the sides and walk down the stairs and each go different directions. We had some sound affects and some extra people in the background. The bell rang which was a great sound affect, and we have people walking to their next class in the back. We then decided to do a couple more shots and look over any footage we took to check for any mistakes. We then looked at them and if there were any mistakes we went and retook some shots. We then started pulling apart all of our equipment. Such as take the camera from the tripod, putting the tripod away and putting the camera in the camera case. We then headed back to class and we started turning our equipment back to our teachers.
After turning everything and signing back all the papers we went to the computers and went to dump our footage. We had filmed on my phone and on the camera in case any issues with the footage going missing or us not being able to work something. We went ahead and dumped our footage and got started on our steps. I went ahead and sent everyone any footage that was taken on my phone so they could watch and pick which shot was best. We then went over the plan for Mondays  filming session with all the actors. We went over where we would film at, what to wear, what to bring, what props we were going to use, so they would know what to do on Monday once we get all of our equipment and sign all the check in papers. We also went over who’s is taking a lead on which part, who will be the main, and who will be the extras. We also went over that we needed more props from the company we are doing the commercial on.

Storyboard

On our storyboard we have our angles, shots, and locations. We mostly have over the shoulder, eye level and high angles. We’re going to use eye level for when people are interacting with each other. We’ll use high angles when shooting any group encounters or when people are in a big group coming from somewhere. We’ll also be using over the shoulder for when people are talking to eachother, in a conversation.
Today in class we made our storyboards and decided what we would use. We got actors and discussed hiw filming would be so thar they had an idea. While wprking on our storyboard we took notes of which types of movements and angles we wpuld use. We decided to use most of the shots that we had learned in the beginning. We are going to edit using jump cuts. We are using mostly two and three shots.
Before our group did the storyboard we wanted to have people dress as an "emotion" to portray how the viewer would feel with out Dunkin (for example if they are mad they wear red.) We decided to take it out because we want to other things. If we want to do that, it would not show because at some parts of the video it is black and white. Our commercial is still going to show how you feel before and after having coffee or any other product. We are going to have the people in our video express how they feel with their body language and words

Editing Lesson Blog

In today’s lesson i learned how to use the equipment, how to dump, how to import, and how to export. Learning all of this is very important for this commercial and for my future learning. One of the most important ones was learning how to deal with the equipment. What we had to do with them, how to be careful, taking care of it, and how return everything back. Most important the Do’s and Donts of using the equipment. Every time we checkout an item we need to present that we have checked it out. When checking out we must fill out the checkout form and we must fill in the check in form, the time and day we returned the items. All equipment must be turned in by the next day after usage of equipment. After learning how to use the equipment, how to set up, and how to work everything we can start our footage taking.
Once done filming and shooting several clips my group now have to log into a computer to dump all the footage we took. We have to use pinnacle studios and we must only use one log in for the rest of our project. After that we have to create a folder and name it. We now have to insert our SD card into computer and open desktop to click on the “DCIM” folder which all footage should be there, if not we click on private, go on the “AVCHD” folder and all footage should be there. Then highlight everything and drop it to the main folder on your desktop. Into importing, this is where we start moving our footage and editing, cutting, anything we need to do to make it as professional as a commercial. Now building our track, we click on Av track 2, the main one, and drag all the raw footage into that Av track. We wait for it to load, until it’s completely loaded, then we continue. Then we start our affects, voice over, anything we need to edit.
In order to save all the date, to not lose any footage or editing we have made, always click ok after any change is made. Now into adding our tittle. We click on “T”, put the tittle and edit it into the clip we need it on. We would make a slide, write our tittle, and drop it above the clip we want it on. Then we go into our motions and anything we want to make our tittle to blend in with our clip. If anything freezes or goes wrong, we reload the program, and continue. We may lose the last pieces of editing we did but we just continue. Save to files, name the file, and put it in our main folder. Then save it to the desktop. Now into exporting our saved file. We click export, next to import, we then save it and wait. We don’t do anything so we don’t lose any of our footage. We then click “MP4” and start export. Then we save and watch our file, check for any mistakes or issues, if any issues go back and fix, if no issues then we are all set.

Planning

We decided to create a very detailed schedule because we want to have enough time for all locations. We are filming in four different locations. Which are subject to change if the weather permits. We decided to come and film at lunch too. So from 11:35-11:50 we will be on the senior patio to film our "morning" shot. After that we gave ourselves five minutes to get to the track to film our "day" shot from 11:55-12:15. Then from 12:20-12:40 we will be under the media center. Out last and final scene is us at the bus loop from 12:45-12:55 so we can film our shot of us running with a ton of other people. We thought that doing a shot based off a school day woukd be pretty cool so we picked spots around the school that can be used when filming and would represnt different points in a school day.

Our group decided it is best is we print out pictures of the logo Dunkin’ donuts because “America Runs on Dunkin.” Throughout the whole comercial the actors will be walking and running on “Dunkin.” We will also have people with cups of coffee and food from the company. They will be waking around as background people or close up for product placement. For the costumes we decided to have people dress in different solid colors. The reason why is because the concept of the commercial is how it feels like to not have your coffee that day. The video will display the variety moods someone can be without having their coffee.

In case anything goes wrong with the weather we have our backup plan, which is if it rains and we can’t go on the track we would go and film under the media center by the vending machines. We would film in the track people running on the Dunkin boxes but if it’s raining we will have a group of people walking with Dunkin cups. Our other backup plan is the senior patio, we would have a group of kids meeting up to eat their breakfast which would be the donuts and the coffee. If it rains too we would film by the auditorium stairs. Have the group of kids hang out on the stairs with their Dunkin coffee and donuts. We’d also film in the bus loop as if kids were on their way home, our other option would be to film at the point of entry. If things go according to plan we will continue with our track, senior patio, and bus loop films.

Research

For our commercial we decided to do dunkin donuts because we all enjoy it. We started off by searching up dunkin donuts commercials on YouTube. But we soon realised we didnt knkw what conventions meant so we had to search it up. Most of the commercials were either cute or funny.  Since my group decided to do dunkin donuts we strictly watched dunkin commercials. We all brainstormed what we wanted to do and then started typing. We asksed our friend to borrow her laptop so we could watch videos. We decided to stray a little far away from the idea of a conventional dunkin commercial by featuring real people.

The videos that our grouped watch showed that in the commercials it usually demonstrates people being in a better mood once they have coffee. It also shows people enjoying their drink or food that they have. The commercials have music that is very tranquil. It also have some special effects like pop art and exaggerated scenes like a man flying a plane. During the video, it is colorful most of the time. The commercials have people that talk about why they like Dunkin and that they would keep buying that product. At the end of all the commercials they promote the deals that they have which would attract people to buy it. These tactics persuade people to invest in their company.

Our idea is that since Dunkins motto is "America runs on dunkin" we're going to have people running while eating donuts. Were not going to do a conventional dunking donuts commercial. most dunking commercials only feature the food or drink being advertised. whereas, ours will have real people doing things because we thought the idea was cool. were going to find as many people as we can to run. were gonna ask our friends to help and their friends. were also gonna work at kats house on wednesday to brainstorm more. Were also going to buy donuts and iced coffee to put in our commercial. Well have people running while eating as an example of the motto "America runs on dunkin".

Introduction

Hi my name is Luisa, i am a freshman at Fort lauderdale high school. I was born in Brazil and move to New Zealand when i was 2 years old. I lived in New Zealand for about 5 years. It was an amazing experience even though i was at a younger age it was still a great 5 years. At the end of those 5 years, in 2011, a big earthquake hit my city and destroyed many peoples homes. Therefore we had to move and head on back to our home country Brazil. We moved back to Brazil and stayed there for about 3 years, but that’s when my parents decided to explore a little more.. Leading us to where we’re at right now, the United States. And now an ongoing 5 years here in florida.
In conclusion to my whole life story, in my 15 years of life i’ve explored a couple places here and there and it’s safe to say that many more will be explored.
