Filming Blog

For our second day of filming we were filming our police station scenes and the interrogation room scenes. We got there at around 11am or like 11:30am and we go to the library and we rented out a study room so we could get started and we had to wait for our main two characters to get there so we started getting ready for everything and we started setting up all the props we had. We got started on setting up the white board with all of our evidence which was the pictures from the murder as the evidences which was the stab wound, then the bloody t-shirt, and the hand prints around the neck. We stuck the pictures onto the white board and we wrote next to them their description and what number evidence they were aka like evidence #2 or evidence #1. We then proceeded to write the suspects and their alibis for each suspects. Our main characters arrived so we then told the to go over their lines and we first did a draft scene where they just went over their lines back and fourth for their scenes. We then started filming each scene and we had to redo a couple because we didn't like the angles the scene was being shot at so we changed the angles and camera movements. After that we watched our footage and checked to see if we had to retake any due to any minor issues but we didn't have any so we headed over to kats house to finish filming some scenes and we were done filming our movie. We left the library around 1:30pm or maybe even 2:30pm so we waited outside and we talked about how our scenes were and if we thought they were good. After we were completely done we watched our footage again and selected the best ones we like and we started cropping each scene because there were some interruptions at the end and the beginning of each scene we shot. We then watched it over again to make sure we were all set to go and start editing our movie. We also thought we were going to have to shoot some extra scenes on sunday but then we decided we had enough footage and that we were set.

Filming blog

On friday night we started filming our main scene. And we left the other scenes for the rest of the weekend. On friday night, around 5:30pm we started to go to the park. We got there around 6:30 because there was a lot of traffic. Once we got there it was very windy so we tried to it as fast as possible and still get our amazing footage and all the footage we needed. We first started off with getting the main shots and then proceeded to get some other extra footage. we started the murder scene by going more into the park and going where there are a lot of trees. Once we got there we started setting up or props and we got some walking shots and some shots that’s happened before the murder ended. And then we started setting up the blood which was fake and i had made it at home which was corn syrup mixed with some water and some red gel food coloring and black cherry flavored kool aid which made it the exact color of real blood but in this case it is very much fake blood. We then continued to film our footage for the rest of the murder which i had to be laid on the floor with the blood zip lock bag in my shirt taped to my stomach. which we then had to tear the bag a little so when she stuck the fake knife in my stomach the bag would pop and the blood would drop out making it look very real. But we had some complications with the blood because it was a little too thick so then we had to add water to make it more liquid so it would be able to completely drip out and look as if i was bleeding a lot. after that we had to use the main character to put a bloody hand print onto my neck to make it look as if the victim got strangled before the actual stabbing had happened. after that we went to the swing area at the park to film the “playground” scene which is the main character and the victim having “fun” at the swings and slides. We then took pictures for the next day to use as evidence and we looked over some footage that we took and we were all set.

Filming procedures

For our filming procedures we  will be filming on Friday and Saturday. on Friday we will be filming our murder scene at night at the park on Saturday  we will be filming our police station and interrogation scene. on Wednesday we went to buy our props which are the knives, fake blood, handcuffs and other things. we still have to buy our outfits, which for my case is a white t-shirt and jeans or shorts. I will be needing a extra pair of clothes in case we have to re-shoot the murder scene. if we cant find the fake blood we might make it ourselves and mix red food coloring with watered down corn syrup. we will be filming the murder scene on Friday night when the sun is setting so it will be more of a thriller vibe. on saturday the whole day we will be at the library filming our police station scenes. We have some clips from the fair from last friday to add into the flashbacks. We will be adding the fake blood to my stomach so when the main character, khiara, who plays Ava will stab me with the fake knife where the fake blood is placed at. Our plan b in case we cant film in the library we will be filming at kats house in her dining room so it could help us a lot if we’re not really able to film in the library. We will be filming on Friday from 5 to 8 pm and on saturday we will be filming from 9 am to around 2 or 3 pm. We will be trying to get as much footage as we can in order to start editing throughout this next upcoming week. Since we will be filming from tomorrow , Saturday and maybe Sunday during the morning or afternoon that will get us enough footage to start editing our movie. For our fake blood i’m going to buy a bottle of corn syrup and some red food coloring to make it look realistic in case we cannot find the fake blood, there are other fake blood techniques we could use but our main back up plan would be the corn syrup and red food coloring. We will all meet at the library and all the other places to film.

Title Designs

At first, it was weird trying to make up names of companies but it became easier as we made them. We only used our names but the some actors and editors will be included. From the help of watching other credits from movies, we knew how we wanted to display them. We also found that it would be best if we didn't go over the top with colors and sizes. I think that it will 90% the same once we start to film. There might be some changes but it will only be if necessary. Giving out the roles for the titles was easy because we knew what our strengths were.

Filming procedures

As a group we spoke last class and discussed our main characters name. We decided to call her Ava because it was cute and easy. We also decided to stay true to real case and call the girl who got murdered Elizabeth. We have made a schedule for february and will be remaking one every month. We are all pretty busy so we can really only meet on saturdays and early release days. We have discussed tips to stay safe. We will also be printing of our scripts. We are going to hand out our scripts on friday at the fair. We are going to make the lines as simple as possible to ensure that everyone can memorise them. We will aslos spend days during class memorising lines

Sound Script

I thought writing a script was going to be easy. Lucky for us we based ours off of a true story. So it was easy to look back and get details. But giving out lines was kind of hard. We thought that since we are only writing two minutes we have to leave some parts up in the air. But we still wanted a well rounded story. My favorite part was writing parts with the grandma. Although she doesn't have a lot of lines i can just imagine a lot of emotion. This is a thriller but we still want raw emotion and feelings. We are so excited to start practicing soon.

Shooting Script

Today our group planned how we are going to shoot our movie. This process was a little difficult because we wanted to show different angles but not show all in one scene. Since we got our inspiration from a real case we had somewhat of an outline on how we are going to do it. We wanted to show as much as possible but make it look like a trailer or tell the whole story in the two minutes. This is why flashbacks to give the viewer more information. We think that the shooting will be easier than the other videos that we did because it is more planned out. Tomorrow our group will confirm a name for our main character and the title of the movie. Also, we will try to get everything done so we can start filming earlier and see if there are any changes that need to be made. I think that we won't be making much of a difference but its always good to be prepared for anything.
